Whiskey Making Process

Great whiskey starts with two things, great grain and amazing water. Luckily, we’ve got plenty of both here in Montana!

RoughStock Montana Whiskey is made from 100% Montana grown and malted barley. We are lucky to have one of the premier barley malting facilities in the world located in our great state. Thanks to the wonderful people at MaltEurop in Great Falls, we are able to produce Montana Whiskey with 100% Montana grains.

The second ingredient, amazing water, comes courtesy of the mountain snow melt that feeds our streams and rivers. The entire Bozeman water supply is fed by these streams, and makes for amazing whiskey.

The entire process is closely regulated by our distiller from milling the grain, fermentation, careful distillation, selection of barrels, and bottling of the whiskey. Every step is performed by hand and supervised by our head distiller with a high standard of excellence in mind.
